We'll walk for water. . . will you?
This Earth Day, our goal is to raise $15,000 which will provide clean water and sanitation for 600 people for life.
THE VISION:
To unite beauty professionals (and friends) in the Kingston and 1000 Islands area in an effort to raise awareness about the global water crisis, and to raise funds for WaterCan.
THE GOAL:
Our collective goal this year is to raise $15,000 through pledges. $15,000 will provide access to clean water for 600 people in Eastern Africa for life.
THE EVENT:
We will walk from the Canadian Tire store at Princess Street and Bath Road to Confederation basin starting at 9:30 am.
The walk represents a daily journey made by women and children all over the world to collect water.
In the three hours an average-sized salon will be closed to participate in this event, enough water is saved to provide clean water and sanitation for one person for 15 days. Think about that!
WHY WALK?
Every 15 seconds a child dies from water-related diseases amounting to nearly 6,000 deaths each day.(Source: Water Treaty)
The average distance that African and Asian women walk to find clean water is 6 km. (Source: Water Treaty)
It is 12% more likely that a child will attend school if water is available within a 15 minute walk rather than an one hour walk. (Source: Water Aid)
EVERY DROP MATTERS...

Thank you to St. Lawrence College Hairstyling & Esthetics, to Fab, and to the Martello school for joining us as we walk!
